A&W Drive In

A Groovy 60's Hang Out on Friday Cruise nights

Black Angus

Chain offering beef, seafood & surf 'n' turf combos, plus traditional sides, in Western-themed digs.

Captain's Table

No longer open

Costanzas

Not sure if still open

House of Murphy's

After dinner one night at the House of Murphy's we were walking out to the parking lot in front of the restaurant when Mike (5 or 6 years old) darted out into the parking lot. A car was coming and one of the tires collided slightly with Mike. Luckily, Mike was not hurt. It was very scary!

El Rancho Motel

A nice restaurant where we had occasional family dinners with the grandparents. It was fun riding to the restaurant on Hiway 99 in My Grandfather Jack's large 50's car. The seats were bench seats and there was a velvet rope across the back of the front seat.

Konrads

Had the absolute best Rocky Road Ice Cream - big walnuts and marshmallows! I stopped by quite frequently on my way home after school!

Henry's Rollin' Pin

Excellent Donuts! A must on Friday and Saturday nights after the High School and College football games.

Eddie's Coffee Shop

A restaurant where we frequently ate dinner. This is where I discovered chicken fried steak that came with that yummy cream gravy.

The Islsnder

Loved The Islander - beautiful restaurant and excellent food!!

Foster's Freeze

2041 E. Main Street

Giant Orange

Giant oranges — whimsical, orange-shaped hamburger stands offering orange freezes — once dotted American roads. The last one along Highway 99 stood in odd isolation and closed in 2008.

Ye Olde Hoosier Inn

Not only was the food amazing, but the interior was like something right out of a Bavarian dream. From floor to ceiling, in every direction there were cozy booths, beautiful antiques and quaint German sayings carved in the wood beams. Closed in 2021.
